World is a strange place

Over the last few months we have seen a lot of change in our lives. The things that we have taken fro granted have been taken from us. From a simple trip to the pub people are writing up the risk factor. We live from moment to moment day by day things have happened so fast.  In this second wave, which I don’t believe will be as bad as the first we are looking for people to blame. From tack and trace to the slow start to the app to the eat out to help out. Over the summer many, including myself, have put the virus to the back of my mind and got on with life as best as possible.

Now it is back on the news as the main headline. We are all waiting for the next set of restrictions to our lives. So what should we do? How should we react?

First of all can I suggest that we in the words of Dad Army “don’t panic.” That we continue to keep space, wash our hands and Wear a mask when we are asked to. We continue to do the basics and do them well. Keep ourselves safe and therefore by doing that keep others safe too. Can I suggest in this time also we look after our mental health. I have found myself going less on social media limiting myself to watching the news and reading a lot more novels Go out when possible even if it’s just a  walk in the park with friends or a timely trip down the pub with friends. We need to get out from the four walls that we have surrounded  ourselves with and get out in the world. If we have begun to use social media as our only means to tell the world how we feel it is time to stop. Connect with real people, connect face to face. This is good for our metal health. Now I know that some  are scared because they are looking after loved ones who are ill. But, there is always a means to connect with others even in our bubbles.

Our reaction to the virus tells us a lot about ourselves. It tells us who we are and how we react with the world around us. Use this time wisely it is in someways God given so that we can see the things and people that really matter. Look at what we have the good things that we can enjoy and disregard the rest they are not important.

Be safe and look after yourself always.
